Veteran Ghanaian comic actor, Prince Yawson aka Waakye has regretted campaigning for the ruling New Patriotic Party and has rendered an unqualified apology to Ghanaians to that effect.
In an interview with Mzgee after he was presented with some relief items as in food items, he mentioned among other things what pushed him into politics.
He explained that he’s not a politician but he only jumped on the campaign platform because of the situation at the time.
Waakye started campaigning for the NPP in the build up to the 2016 general election and even the 2020 general elections. He told Mzgee that, Dumsor at the time was affecting his job as an actor negatively.
And to get someone who promised to bring an end to the erratic power supply, he didn’t hesitate to support such a candidate.
Judging from how we play politics here, he realized that he might have stepped on a number of toes during the electioneering process and took the opportunity to apologise to Ghanaians for campaigning for the NPP.
He also spoke about his course in theology and hinted that he will be a pastor very soon. Watch the interview below starting from 13 minutes.
