Video: Slay Queen Expresses Shock At The High Patronage Of Used Clothes In Africa

Due to the economic hardships that we find ourselves in, most Africans, as a coping mechanism, turn to the use of second hand clothes imported from the western world.

This makes economic sense as the clothes considered brand new come with exorbitant price tags. As a result, the average African can’t afford them all the time.

The practice is ubiquitous across the entire African continent. Different names are given to the used clothes depending on the country in question you are coming from.

In Ghana, for instance, it is known by many different names ranging from “Foss, Bend down boutique to Yaayari” in the northern part of the country.

A young girl who probably saw this phenomenon for the first time appeared flabbergasted and she took a video of people selling the used clothes to cheerful buyers whiles running some contemptuous commentary on it.

In the video, she interacted with some of the customers and sellers to find out more information about the booming business of “used clothes”.

The video is fast gaining traction on social media and a lot of the internet users are sharing varying opinions on the matter.

Some believe that she’s just making things up to look “special” in a way whiles deep down her she has patronized used clothes before.
