Popular Nigerian preacher, Bishop David Oyedepo has lamented the rate at which the youth of today are losing everything to social media.
The head pastor of the Living Faith Ministries is worried about how the youth of today spend all their time on social media chatting.
He said the over usage of social media has robbed the youth of their thinking abilities and thereby making them lose their destinies and future.
The clergyman said this during the 15th Convocation Ceremony and Conferment of Honourary Doctorate Degrees and presentation of prizes in Ota, Ogun today May 21.
He stressed that the negative impact of social media on youths could not be overemphasized as it has made them to lose focus.
“The social media saga has eroded the substance of destiny as it has unconsciously robbed youths of their future and their time.
The honour of this generation has been wiped off, chatting all day with no time left to think, plan programme and engage productively in the pursuit of any task.
Some professionals have classified social media addiction along with drugs, alcohol and s3x.
“Social media that is supposed to be a plus to the youth, suddenly became a minus, as everything of value is delivered through investment of time,” he said.
Social media has actually come with its own merits and demerits. It has been used to connect the world but most of the youth of this generation are abusing the system.
Some use social media to berate people hiding behind pseudonyms. Others like the preacher beautifully captured spend all their time on the various social media platforms chatting.
