French media outlet, L’Equipe has omitted Argentina and Barcelona darling boy, Lionel Messi in their team of the year for 2020.

The team of the year comprises of eleven players who the paper thinks performed well in the year under review in their respective playing positions.

This year’s list comes with Lionel Messi being the shocking absentee.

The multiple Balon D’or recepient had a rough career last year in both domestic and intercontinental competitions.

Barcelona got kicked out of the UEFA Champions League by eventual winners, Bayern by an embarrassing 8 goals to 2 margin.

The Catalunya based club also failed to clinch the domestic title, losing out to archrivals, Real Madrid.
