Nigerian afrobeats star, Burna Boy has rated himself above all his compatriots when it comes to the most paid artiste in Africa.
Burna Boy who has become very phenomenal in the last couple of years has grown to become the fans’ favorite and has gone on to mount some of the biggest platforms across the world.
The issue of which artiste takes the fattest of cash for an appearance at a show has been a debate for a while now. Nigerian artistes have been in the forefront in this debate due to their dominance in the African music scene.
Names such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Diamond Platnumz of Tanzania and a host of others have always been contenders for this coveted gong.
Whiles the debate is yet to be settled by an independent rating body, Burna Boy has jumped the gun and has named himself as the highest paid artiste from Africa.
The African Giant took to his Twitter handle to write about himself and his obsession for money. He admitted that money does not satisfy him but was quick to hit on the unblemished truth about how he’s the highest paid musician in Africa.
He tweeted: “I said money doesn’t satisfy me and it’s my truth but it doesn’t change the fact that I’m the highest paid artist in the history of African music. Believe it or not.”
Fans have been debating about the veracity of this claim, especially as he stated a time frame, which covers the entire history of African music.
Many believe that, Burna Boy might be the highest paid in his generation but to take it all the way to when music started in Africa can be very erroneous.
The rivalry between Burna Boy and Davido could be what has pushed Burna to make this claim. As you might be aware, Davido is a rich kid, born to a billionaire and his riches have always come to the fray when the debate about who is the biggest starts.
Burna Boy and Wizkid on the other hand, have struggled to amass their wealth from scratch without any significant family inheritance. The trio are currently the face of Nigerian music and to some extent, African music.
I said money doesn’t satisfy me and it’s my Truth but it Doesn’t change the fact that I’m the highest paid artist in the History of African music. Believe it or not.
